Holidays are coming

Again, I do apologise for being a very bad blogger but I have been quite busy recently with some personal stuff which I will disclose at a later date for you!

But, as today is the 18th December it means that there is only 1 week until Christmas is here and I am very very excited!! It will be my first christmas where I actually make the whole dinner and lay the table for my family which I am terrified of doing because I have never cooked a turkey before.

How lovely!!
On the upside, my present from my mum came two days ago which I am also very very happy about it is a Brother XL2620 Sewing Machine and it is a beautiful piece of machinery, see for yourself!

I love Christmas, I love going to Midnight Mass on Christmas eve, I love opening presents with the people who mean everything to me, I love the films and tv programmes that cover the entire TV world and I absolutely love when it snows on Christmas day!

Today is actually a snow day over here on the Isle of Man, I've never seen snow like it over here and to be honest I've not encountered snow like it in a long time, our car has actually dissapeared under a thick white blanket. I love snow days where you can stay inside nice and warm and go and make snow angels outside and have proper snowball fights, its like being a child again! Fantastic!

Anyway, Im going to spend the day with my husband in bed watching tv and playing in the snow!

Happy Holidays!!

Baking on days off.

So ladies and gentlemen, today I decided to bake my first ever fruit cake which, if I must say so myself I was very proud of.

Fruity cake

Ingredients:
200g Self-Raising Flour
100g Butter
100g Caster Sugar
100g Mixed Dried Fruits
1 Level teaspoon finely grated Lemon Rind
1 Egg
5 Tablespoons Milk
1 Level teaspoon of Cinnamon
This is how mine turned out!
  • Grease cake/bread tin
  • Stir flour in to a large bowl and rub in butter finely.
  • Add Fruit, Sugar, Lemon Rind and Cinnamon then mix to a batter with milk and egg.
  • Stir to evenly combined Do Not beat.
  • Transfer to the prepared tin.
  • Bake at 180 C or 350 F in the middle of the oven for about an hour (depending on the strength of your oven.
  • Leave in tin for 5 minutes then turnout and leave to stand on a wire rack.

After baking my lovely cake I then decided to make some Peanut Brittle as a present for my mum for Christmas.

Peanut Brittle

Ingredients:
240g caster sugar
1tbsp butter
200g roasted or honey roasted peanuts

And this is how mine turned out
  •  Put sugar into a saucepan and heat over a medium heat for about 15-20 mins stirring frequently until melted and light brown in colour.
  • Add butter and mix well. Slowly stir in nuts until well coated.
  • Dampen a clean, heat-resistant board or place some baking sheet onto a wire rack and pour the toffee mixture onto it.
  • Roll mixture into balls using a metal or wooden spoon. Cool and store in a tight plastic container until ready to serve or if making for a gift wait until cool and put into airtight jar.

So hope you like the recipes and if you want to send me comments with your versions of these beauties then please feel free to.

Merci Au Revoir!

Crafty fun times

As I mentioned in my last blog, I have decided to make alot of my Christmas decorations or alter ones that we buy.
My package from Hobby craft didn't arrive until earlier this week so I haven't had much chance to start my decorations. I have so far done a wreath and I plan to do some more on Tuesday and Wednesday when I'm off work.
I am also buying my Christmas tree on Tuesday and I'm really excited as it's very pretty already and as I'm going for a silver and gold theme I need to spray the green baubles I already have to match my colour scheme.

In other news, last night I accompanied my friend Jade  to the Festival of Trees at the Isle of Man airport where she had made a fantastic Lego tree for the festival on behalf of Alliance and Leicester. All of the trees were lovely and you can read about them on Jade's blog post from today.
I really enjoyed myself as we got to listen to the choir and drink wine and eat mince pies which was lovely to do.

Also, on Tuesday evening I am going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows again with my husband and Jade as they both haven't seen it yet and I would very much like to see it again. I will be posting a review after watching it a second time as I would like to get it fresh in my memory before advising what I felt about the latest instalment of the Harry Potter films.

Anyway I'm going to watch Sweeney Todd with my husband before bed.

Christmas and Crafts

I know, I know I have been a very bad blogger recently so I do apologise sincerely! My husband and I have had many visitors to come see us so I haven't had the time.

I decided to do a post today as we went to a fabulous garden centre and they had some gorgeous Christmas stock in and tonight I have bought many items from Hobby craft to get our Christmas started. This year, we have decided to make most of our decorations and presents and at Hobby craft you can get the most amazing crafty stuff for next to nothing so we've bought quite a few bits and bobs. If you live in England then it is most likely that there is a Hobby craft somewhere near you but unfortunately we don't have one in the Isle of Man so I have had to order online.

Making your Christmas decorations is a fantastic idea for a few reasons: a) Its cheaper b) It's more personal and c) you can add your own feel to everything therefore having some self satisfaction.
Again, this applies to making your own gifts because of all the reasons I just gave plus the person receiving a gift will know that you put a lot of effort into making something so it is more special to both of you.

There are many things you can make as gifts including jams and preserves, pickles, biscuits and cakes, sweets, jewellery, books, photo frames, ceramics, etc etc and you don't have to make things from scratch you could get items and then customize to make it more personal to the person you are giving the gift to.
There are a few items that will not need anything changing but they still mean alot anyways.

I must admit, I absolutely adore Christmas and this year is the first one that we are completely independent and doing everything ourselves including cooking, decorating and gift giving so we want to make it a special one, I will be attending as many Christmas fairs I can and getting involved in all things Christmas so over the next month there will be a few Christmas themed posts.

Why not comment on my posts and let me know any ideas you have for decorations, crafts and gifts that you are doing or want to share? I would love to know what everyone thinks.

I sincerely apologize for my absence recently, you see I have been quite busy with my Photography Course and also helping out my favourite Social Network PinUpLifestyle.

Friends and Family

I've had a wonderful weekend this weekend. My friend Emma and my parents came to stay and it's been lovely!

It was Emma's 21st birthday yesterday so we went out for the evening and got very dressed up in wonderful cocktail dresses.
I wore this lovely dress with some fabulous purple shoes and some beautiful costume jewellery, my friend Emma wore a fantastic Vivien of Holloway dress with some seamed hold ups I bought her and a necklace I also bought her for her birthday and my friend Quinn wore a very elegant red dress that I gave her with some stunning wedges and ruby red lipstick. We had an amazing time and we danced to abba and lots of 80's music. It was just fab!

This evening my parents made us all a very early christmas dinner as I wont see them until after January and it was very very yummy! I also got to open one of my christmas presents which was a lovely set of pj's and some slippers. I love them!

I just love that I've had such a good weekend and I'm very happy at the moment.
I'm also doing a mini photoshoot for my college project research tomorrow which I'm looking forward to.

Anyway, time to carry on watching Sherlock.

Work and Photographs.

Hey there everyone!
I have a massive love of photography and two days ago I had a bit of a crisis in life of what I wanted to do and what would make me happy.
After talking to one of my friends Chris I decided instead of thinking about what I wanted to do and constantly wandering about where my life would be if I'd just done what I wanted I decided to do something about it. So yesterday, I went to the Isle of Man college to meet some friends on their lunch hour. Whilst there I decided to have a chat with someone about courses and after a quick phonecall, I was accepted to do Photography.
I'm also making a very important phone call on Monday to make my life even better.
So, today after I've finished work I have my first lesson. I am 5 weeks late into the course so I have alot of catching up to do but I don't mind because I'm so happy to be finally doing something that makes me happy and makes my dreams come true.
I wanted to thank my friends and my husband for all the support they have given me the past couple of days and I can safely say I wouldnt have gone for it if it wasn't for you guys!
Please visit my friend Jade's Blog to see some of her inspirational posts and pictures!

Only a short one today as Im going to be late for work if I don't go now.

Ode to John Hughes

Okay well you all know my love for 80's films specifically directed/written or produced by John Hughes so I thought I would do an ode to him with this post.
My favourite John Hughes films are as follows:

Pretty In Pink - A film about Andie Walsh who is considered one of the 'poor kids' at school, falls in love with one of the rich, popular boys Blaine McDonough. When Andie and Blane try to get together, they encounter resistance from their respective social circles. Andie's best friend Duckie is completely in love with her but jokes about it around her. It's a bit of a love triangle with laughing, crying and a tad of disappointment. I adore this film and it is one of my favourite's but it never goes just quite how I want it too.

The Breakfast Club - Basically 5 kids get put in Saturday detention for one reason or another and they have to spend the whole day in detention writing about who they think they are. The group are really different and all have their stereotypes but soon come to realise that they aren't just how they act at school. I love this coming of age movie because you get an insight into different points of view and it makes you realise that no matter who your family are or your friends or how popular you are at school you can still beat the stereotype and be who you want to be. I think this film is fantastic and I 100% recommend watching it even if its just for the dancing scene.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Ferris Bueller bunks off from school for a day with his best friend and his girlfriend and gets into all sorts of jams and creatively spends the day avoiding his school dean, his jealous sister and his parents. I like this film because it's different from the others. Ferris speaks directly to the camera about all his thoughts and feelings and I like that interaction with the audience. One of the best John Hughes films' by far.

Sixteen Candles - Sam Baker has just turned sixteen but in the midst of her sister's wedding and grandparents coming over her family totally forget and don't even say it too her. Sam spends the day at school and even her friends have forgot. Needless to say she is devastated by this and her day gets even worse when she slips a 'sex quiz' to her friend but her high school crush Jake Ryan picks it up unbeknownst to her and her best friend. Sam is truly upset with this because it reveals that she is still a virgin and saving herself for Jake. Sam also has to put up with a younger geeky kid following her around all day and constantly hitting on her.
Again, I love this film it's funny, heartbreaking, and happy all in one and you should definitely watch it.

Weird Science - Two geeky, unpopular high-schoolers find that they are unlucky in love so one night whilst watching the movie 'frankenstein' they decide to make a girl of their own 'Lisa' she's gorgeous and magical and the boys adore her and she completely turns their worlds upside down in some hilarious antics. This film gives hope to geeks allover the world that one day they will be successful in love and if they aren't well you can make a woman can't you?
Watch this film and you will not be disappointed.

And finally,
Some Kind of Wonderful - Tomboy Watts has always considered Keith Nelson her best friend but when Keith asks out the most popular girl in school, Watts realises that her feelings are more and that she has always been in love with him. I can't go any more into detail of the plot otherwise I will give away the ending but it is a wonderful twist and you need to watch this film with is truly heart warming!

So there you are, some of my favourite John Hughes films of the 80's. My advice is to watch all of these films and then you will understand my love for all things John Hughes.
I think that films are amazing they can make you have so many emotions and can change your way of looking at life. I love films that do this and I can safely say that all of these films do and I am so grateful that John Hughes made these films come to life like he did. I admire him so much and I would love to be able to change lives like he has in so many ways.

Oh dear.

Well, I must say I apologise sincerely for not updating in so long..I've been working non stop recently but have finally had a day off today and another tomorrow.
So, today I put on one of my new vintage dresses and went to the tailors up in Laxey. The woman there was extremely helpful and she is taking in my 50's evening dress for only £15 which is amazing considering its quite a difficult job due to the detailing around the waist and bust. She had some amazing outfits that she had made for sale and one that caught my eye is an amazing vintage inspired winter dress that looks like a mixture between an evening dress and a winter coat with its gorgeous fur trims and button details, believe me it was fabulous.
I'm going to have to take my friend Jade to see the work she does it is inspiring and although the clothes are quite expensive (because they're specifically made to your measurements and requirements) I think I may have to get myself something when I next get paid.

Tomorrow I am spending the day with Jade so I may take a trip to the charity shops and see whats on offer as I love bargains and the charity shops in town are like little treasure chests full of fabulous things.
I tend to do all my shopping on ebay and in charity shops with the odd bits and bobs bought on the high street because I like my vintage wear and its easy to find on the internet. Speaking of which I bought a gorgeous cocktail dress which is 50's inspired by Holly Willoughby, she has some amazing designs and I was lucky to get one for quite cheap you can find her clothing on Very. The dress is quite low cut in a satin material, it's a lovely purple colour with a black bow on the waistband and it comes just below the knee in a loose pencil fitting. Just gorgeous!

Anyway, I'm going to venture to the land of nod as I am ridiculously tired and I have to get up early to talk to my darling sister as I've not spoke to her in over a month!

Doctor who?

I cant believe this is the first blog I'm actually doing about Doctor Who seeing as it is my all time favourite show!!

If you don't know what Doctor Who is then you have obviously not lived!

But yea, I've been listening to alot of music composed for Doctor Who recently and I realised I am so excited for the Christmas Special this year, I hate the months that seem to go on forever between the series and the specials and it couldn't come any quicker for me!
I am so glad they have decided to split the next season over the spring/autumn and winter for 2011!

I thought that I would give my own little review on Season 5 as I haven't yet and I would like to know other people's opinions on 'the new doctor' and the story lines etc etc.
Firstly, Matt Smith makes an excellent doctor. He brings his own personality and eccentricity to the role and I'm really happy with his performances as the 11th Doctor. I love David Tennant (I've met him) as does everyone else but it was his time to go for him and for the series and I'm glad Matt could fill his boots!
I'm also glad that River Song is growing on me, because in the episode 'Silence in the Library' I wasn't too keen on her, but then again that might have been because I was jealous that she may be the doctor's wife. I have since then got married so I can't be too jealous ha ha!
I have to say that Amy Pond (the new companion) hasn't fully done it for me yet, yes she is attractive and yes she is a good character and Karen Gillan is a wonderful actress but she hasn't got the flare that Donna Noble had!
Mind you though, things go on and I'm not saying that I wish all the old characters would come back because things change and I'm happy with the results.
This may have been because the story lines have been EPIC!
I am really glad that Steven Moffat has been the writer because I love how dark the episodes have been, he always brings the horror to an episode!!

On that note I would like to say that I do hope the next Doctor is Benedict Cumberbatch because he was amazing in Sherlock and Sherlock Holmes and The Doctor have an eccentricity about them which Benedict played perfectly and I'm sure he would do just as good in Doctor Who. Plus, he just looks like he could be The Doctor!

Right, anyway seeing as I have rambled on for a while why don't you all tell me what you think about it all?

Movie night

So, you know I mentioned in a couple of my posts that a) I love musicals and b) Cliff Richard was gorgeous in his hey day? Well my amazing friend Jade Boylan and her lovely mum Joy knew this and saved up all the DVD's that starred Cliff Richard which came free with a few of last week's newspapers to give to me. Thank you very much my lovelies! So tonight I plan on watching as many as I can of these film's as I have not seen many of them. The films are as follows:
  • Summer Holiday
  • Wonderful Life
  • Serious Charge
  • Two a penny, and finally
  • Take me high
I'm really excited for my night in because I absolutely adore films and how they can change your emotions with whatever happens in them and the characters that you ultimately fall in love with.
I love having girly nights in on my own where I can pamper myself after a hard days work and watch some old movies.

On that note I'm going to love you and leave you so until next time,

Femme Fatale's and giveaways!

Okay so there is this fabulous Blogger who I check in with every single day, she is amazing and I love reading her stuff Va-Voom Vintage.
She is currently doing a giveaway competition where you have to name your favourite femme fatale from past or present. The prizes are fabulous as you can see!!

Now after much thought and consideration I have to say that my favourite Femme Fatale at the moment has to be the actress Christina Hendricks from 'Mad Men' as she just exudes sexuality and could easily make a man fall at her feet, she has a body to die for and has curves in all the right places and I personally think that young girls should aspire to be like her rather than these anorexically skinny models i.e Kate Moss.
She is just Fierce!! I mean see for yourself.

So anyway, please go and see the afore mentioned blog, it is amazing and I am so glad that there are other sexy curvy pin ups around for all your pin up needs!
Thankyou Brittany Va Voom Vintage for inspiring me and helping me out even though you don't know it!!

Handbags and Life changes

Wow, I'm terribly sorry I haven't posted in a week!! I've been so busy as I went back to my hometown to visit my family and to go to a wedding.
I got to see some lovely friends which was fantastic and the wedding was fabulous, even if it did rain alot of the time.
Anyway, I came home and have been working everyday so haven't had much chance to blog as I've been extremely tired. But I do have to tell you about some of the most gorgeous handbags I've seen recently. Now, Paul's Boutique has always been one of my favourite designer's of the handbag variety but recently I have seen more and more of these wonderful creation's. If you have never seen these bag's before then have a look at these beauties----->
I wish I owned one of these fabulous quilted wonders and if anyone wanted to buy me one then I would be much obliged.

I've been thinking about my life recently and with alot of my friends heading off to uni or doing new courses it really makes me contemplate what I should do with my life. My ideal job would be to own a vintage clothing and accessory store where I make my own bits and bobs. If anyone had any ideas on how to go about doing this then again, I would be much obliged for any help.
There is nothing of the vintage nature on the Isle of Man so I would be the only place and like my blog it would be called 'Loretta Jane's Vintage Boutique'. Ah, one can dream!

Right, time to catch up on some of my favourite shows.

Sleepover.

So my friend is turning 18 on thursday and unfortunately I can't go out for it because I'm away for the weekend for my cousin in laws wedding so I asked her to come over for a girly night in as I won't get to see her otherwise.
We've eaten pizza, drank wine and watched Russell Howard and the film Weird Science along with lots of videos on youtube.
I've had an awesome time tonight, I haven't had a friend over to my new house ever so it's been nice to do something different for once.

I love 1980's films the graphics were amazing and the humour is so dry and witty, there just isn't anything like it nowadays which is such a shame because these films are legendary to name a few; Pretty in pink, The breakfast club, Weird science, Sixteen candles, Ferris buellers day off, Heathers, Lost boys etc.
I wish John Hughes were still alive even though the films he did in his later years weren't up to scratch I wish someone would do more like these beauties.
The clothing and hairstyles was also awesome in the 80's if I could live in any era in my twenties it would either be the 1950's or the 1980's!!

Anyway I'm abandoning my friend so I shall get back to the film and my girly night

Happiness.

So yesterday I got asked to be an extra in a new BBC drama that's set in the 1940's/1950's it's about the early lives of Morecambe and Wise and I get paid for it!
I am so happy its unreal I may be on tv which is fantastic and I adore acting and dressing vintage so it's perfect!

On another note, I spent alot of money on lingerie today. I bought 6 pairs of stockings in one go along with 16 pairs of knickers and a bra and a suspender belt so I am sorted completely for new underwear and it's all vintage style. I spent a fortune.

Now I'm watching 'Gentlemen prefer blondes' on dvd and painting my toenails the same colour as the TARDIS hehe!

Musicals.

You know I was talking about the musical Summer Holiday? Well, I'm currently watching a show called 'The 100 greatest musicals' on tv and it has made me realise how much I actually love musicals more than anything!
I could literally watch musicals all day everyday for the rest of my life. In fact, I could live in a musical if I was given the opportunity (not that that would ever happen but you know, we can dream).

Everything about musicals is fantastic, they make you feel every emotion you could possibly feel and they make you think about life and learn how to dream and go for your goals, they give you hope for love and the future and they make men realise that dancing and singing nowadays is still perfectly normal.

If I could ever be in a musical I would jump at the chance and I know that it would be the most wonderful experience and if anyone wants anyone to star in a musical then please let me know, I haven't got the most amazing voice but I can carry a tune and I'm always up for training .

On reflection, I've watched alot of shows that had a random musical episode and I can honestly say that I liked the musical episode more than the normal series i.e Buffy the vampire slayer, Scrubs, How I met your mother etc
If you ever feel down in the dumps watch a musical, it will make you so much happier and will make you want to dance.

Anyway, on that note I think I will sift through my dvd collection and find a musical to watch!

Au Revoir.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

So I've been working non stop for a few days now and I'm awfully tired because my husband started his new job last week and he hasn't been getting home until 5am the past few days which wakes me up!
I'm glad that he's working now but I have hardly seen him and when I have he has been too tired to talk so has been sleeping alot which is a bummer because I really miss him and I'm getting kinda lonely.

Today though, he isn't working until later so we got to have tea together earlier which he cooked for me and we watched the 1963 film Summer Holiday which made me really happy because I love musicals from that era and Cliff Richard was hot back in the day I mean look at him...

Anyway, I get paid on Tuesday so I'm going to buy new lingerie and stockings and maybe some clothing for work because I am running low!! I also need to get some new foundation, I am used to Studio Fix by MAC but I have heard good things about Revlon PhotoReady so I may have to check that out. Also I could do with getting my bangs cut properly because they are already growing out and I don't wanna mess them up by cutting them myself.

Right I'm going to go watch TV and curl my hair,

The male population

Okay, I'm going to have a teeny bit of a rant here.
One question that I need to ask is, Why don't men dress and look they way they used to?
If you look at men in the fifties you will see that most of the time they dressed very smart and kept their hair and clothes in check. I would love men to dress like this these days and also I would love men to treat women like ladies and look after us and pull our chairs out at dinner and open our car doors and dance with us.
I want men to be like they were in the movies!

Sorry, I know I shouldn't complain but I can't help it. I love my husband more than anything but sometimes I would love to be treated like the ladies in the fifties were.

Buddy Holly comes to mind!

Busy busy busy.

Sorry I haven't written in a while, my parents came over for a visit this weekend which was amazing because I haven't seen them in a month.
We spent time at the Manx Museum and we went to The Sound for lunch which was really nice, I got to show them the sights of the Isle Of Man and got to wave at the Fairy Bridge.
Unfortunately, they went home this morning so I've got to wait a few weeks until I see them again.

I've been working all day today and I am so tired but that didn't stop me making a full sunday dinner from scratch, which if I do say so myself was fabulous!

I get paid in about a week so with my money after bills have been taken out is going on some new stockings and a new dress for my cousin in law's wedding next month and maybe a sewing machine.
I want to make some new bits and bobs and maybe alter some of my clothes to make them more unique.

Anyway, time to read some Terry Pratchett!

Unexpected Kindness.

Well yesterday was just a normal day at work until a lovely woman named Fiona called in to buy some stuff after I'd recommended some goodies for her last time.
We got talking about the clothing I was wearing and about vintage styles and how much I loved the 1950's, Fiona told me that she does promotions for cafe's/bars and that she would call me if she ever did a 50's night/pin up and needed someone which was awesome!
We then got talking about the motown night on at the villa and I said how much I wanted to go to the Buddy Holly winter dance party next month Fiona said 'Why dont you go?' and I told her that I just can't afford it at the moment. The next thing I knew Fiona was handing me £40 for me and my husband to go, I told her I couldnt accept money but nonetheless she didn't back down. Thankyou so much Fiona if you are reading this but I need to give you your money back I really should not have accepted it at work I could have had a right mouthful from my boss if anyone had seen that.

On another note, today I baked a Rhubarb and Apple crumble for the first time ever and it was absolutely delicious if I do say so myself hehe
I love baking after a hard day at work, it makes me feel so calm and content!

Also, for some reason I've been getting so many compliments recently. I'm going to end up having a  massive ego by the end of the month!

Anyway I'm going to go put my hair in rollers and watch some Torchwood before bed

So, today it was boiling outside so my husband and I decided to go to the beach in Peel, it was gorgeous we had ice cream and walked on the sand (which I haven't done in about 5 years). There were so many people at the beach it was crazy, but nice to see people so happy and building sandcastles and running into the beautiful blue sea.
It made me think back to the 1950's and a video that is shown in the Manx Museum that my friend Jade showed me last week, it showed how many tourists we used to have over here and how jam packed the beaches were constantly, it also showed all the old tea dances they used to have and how gorgeous everything was way back when.

After we got back home from the beach and buying enough food from Shoprite as we could fit in our trolley and spending £90 on it all, we had a noodle salad for our lunch and i made a pineapple cheesecake (I have never in my life made cheesecake before and it was yummy!) we then sat outside on our front garden in the sun and I read the first 4 chapters of Dead Until Dark my first True Blood book, I know I'm jumping on the bandwagon of reading the books late but I've been reading 10 other books before this so it took me a while.
Anyway, I spent about half an hour laid in the sun reading my book and drinking St Heliers Blueberry Cider (try it if you haven't already its gorgeous) then it got way too hot so we came inside and for some reason I had a nap for a few hours, I was exhausted with everything we have done today.

I'm now spending some time talking to my best friend Emma on Skype as we dont get to talk much anymore whilst I wait for the next True Blood episode to be aired online streaming from America.

Manx Royal Show

So today I went to the Manx Royal Agricultural Show in Sulby.
There were some amazing sights to be seen but yet the people couldn't seem to keep their eyes off me, it seems that people in the Isle Of Man aren't used to the vintage look but I'm not going to lie I loved the attention, it made me feel like a movie star.
The most amazing points of the show for me were the vintage cars and tractors, omg they were fabulous and I had to get my photo taken with some of them here you are:
My husband also pointed out an amazing car called 'The Moriarty' it was gorgeous and ultimately reminded me of Sherlock Holmes and one of my friends Jade.

All in all we had a lovely day and the weather was fantastic now time to put my feet up and relax.

Au revoir.

Well hi there!

This is the first post on my new blog, I hope you will all like reading what I have to say!
I've been constantly reading about other people's lives and I love it and I thought that maybe someone else out there might want to know what I do or how I feel and what I like/dislike.

So here goes...
Firstly, I am so totally in love with charity shops...they will be my downfall.
The best one we have over here is Oxfam, my friend Jade and I go there now when we go to town and I seem to always find something amazing whilst we're in there.
I recently purchased 2 gorgeous scarves, a dress and a book for my husband about J.R.R Tolkein's world all for less than £15.00..I know bargain right?

I'm all for bargains, I would much prefer to get alot of things for hardly any money then spend £1000 on one item of clothing (don't get me wrong if I had the money I so would!)

Another of my fave places to shop is the wonderful http://www.ebay.co.uk it has everything you could ever want, for instance I bought this beauty last night it's a gorgeous handheld sewing machine for only 99p.
I am going to customize so much stuff with this gorgeous piece of machinery.

Also guys if you are ever strapped for cash and need some new furniture/clothes etc etc go onto this website http://www.uk.freecycle.org/ its a way for you to get rid of old stuff! Instead of throwing it in the skip it's a way of recycling and giving your old stuff that you no longer need to someone who does need it and vice versa! I adore this website and in fact have just today contacted someone who is giving away a dining table and chairs for free, I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.

Anyway I think I better head as my husband is on his way home and we are going to watch The Notorious Bettie Page on dvd.

Au Revoir!
